There are many E-Readers out there to choose from and it can be very difficult to know what you are looking for. Right now is the great time to consider the Velocity Micro Cruz Reader because Amazon is now selling it at $120 and as you know, prices like this don’t come around every day. That’s pretty close to 50% off and a great price for someone who’s interested in a reading device but isn’t sure if it’s worth the money. If you’re like me before I purchased my first E-Reader, I knew I liked reading but was worried that the E-Reader wouldn’t feel the same as a book. I was pretty stuck in the feel of a physical old-fashioned book in my hands. Over time, you will get used to it, as I did.
The beautiful touch screen display of the Cruz allows you to easily navigate through books, the internet and more. You are going to be able to view magazines in full-color while not having to lug around anything extra with you. What’s so great about this specific reader is the fact that its web is full-functioning. Readers have been known to lack in that department so that’s a very exciting change. Hopefully in time this feature will be offered in all devices of this sort. With a USB and SD slot, you are going to be able to add additional memory to your reading device to your liking. This is great for people who like to store all of their books in one place; allowing easy access and download space.
Now, the downside of having all of these features is that the battery life isn’t all that great. With color and touch screen devices, you just aren’t going to get the same life out of the battery as say, a Kindle would. Why this device doesn’t come with a manual, I will never understand. You actually have to go online and view it or download it for more information.
Sadly, the internet speed is very slow; which I guess should be expected of an E-Reader because that is not the main purpose of their functionality. I am a firm believer that if a feature is available to you, it should work well; whether or not it’s the main purpose of the device. Some may disagree. Another thing I don’t understand is why the Borders App requires Wi-Fi the first time you read a book. Doesn’t this completely defeat the purpose of an E-Reader? However, there is an Amazon App available the lets you get around this issue; still a bit annoying either way.
Before deciding on your E-Reader; ask yourself a few things. Do you need color? Is internet access important to you? If not, then you could probably go with something in black and white. However, right now is a great time to buy because you will basically be getting all of these extra features for no additional cost.
